How to Achieve Success
How to Achieve Success
Are you fed up or frustrated with your life? Are you ready for some changes? Did you know that goal setting is a really powerful process of helping you think about your ideal future and turning your vision into a reality?
Some people are unfocused and distracted from having the kind of life they want because they don't have a clear and precise way forward. The process of setting goals will help you know what it is you want to achieve and help you spot the distractions that might lure you away from your focus. Goal setting will not only help you reach your desired outcomes but the process will help build your confidence and improve motivation.
Successful people, including top level athletes and business people, know that the secret of realising their dreams means two things. The first is writing down their goals and the second is working hard to achieve them. You too can experience success, if you make an empowering decision right now, to make goal setting a way of achieving your dreams.
Before you write down your goals, first be honest with yourself about what it is you really want. Don't try and live somebody else's dreams or put down your own. You are responsible for your life and the way it is taking shape, so embrace it and don't be afraid to make mistakes. The most successful people in life invite mistakes as part of learning about what they need to differently in order to move forward again.
You might think your dreams are too big but don't let that stop you. When you have identified your overall dream break it down into a set of smaller goals. Make these small and achievable steps, and then create a plan as to how you will reach those steps. Be sure though that your goals are realistic, and that you are giving yourself a reasonable time to achieve them.
Will there be road blocks to achieving your goals? Yes, of course there will. The road to achieving your dreams is always going to be laced with obstacles, yet it is those who have faith, determination and perseverance and who decide not to quit when the going gets tough, who are the ones that stay the in the race and win. If you need inspiration, read any true life stories of people who have achieved their dreams and you will discover that all of them were tested and tempted to quit along the way.
I don't believe in New Year's Resolutions because they tend to be based on good intentions. To be truly intentional, we need to be able to set goals and develop the faith and tenacity to apply ourselves and be in it for the long haul.
It is now just a question of what you want to gain from 2010. Will it be different for your relationships, finances, career, spiritual life or health & well being? Only you can decide what those differences will be and whether you are prepared to pay the price and go for it!
